After the first half of 2024, it is time to take a closer look at the performance of the Finnish M&A market and consider what the rest of the year might bring. Despite the challenging economic environment that continued in the second quarter of 2024, positive indicators are already emerging in the global market and are expected to be perceived in Finland in the near future.
The key findings of our report are:
- The moderate pace of M&A activity continued during Q2 2024, with companies and investors adjusting to the changing interest rates and the evolving market environment.
- The Finnish IPO market remained inactive during Q2, with Kalmar’s listing process being the most notable event in the market. However, the global IPO market has already shown positive signs and companies in Finland are preparing their next strategic moves.
- Strategic reviews continued during the second quarter, and the Finnish market experienced a couple of public tender offers. We might see more public tender offers during the second half of 2024 as a result of low valuation levels, easing inflation and anticipated interest rate cuts.

- Be open to changes: in these uncertain times companies need to be open to alternative structures, including partnerships, alliances and forms of capital structuring.

- Seize opportunities: the most lucrative deals are often made during challenging periods. Companies need to stay updated on emerging trends, growth sectors, and promising opportunities.
